Google Antigravity Raises Rate Limits But Free Users Still Face Restrictions

Google has updated its Antigravity development platform by increasing rate limits but this change primarily benefits paid subscribers. Free-tier users will still need to navigate low usage quotas.

Priority Access for Google AI Pro and Ultra Subscribers

Users with Google AI Pro or Ultra subscriptions now enjoy the highest available rate limits on Antigravity. These quotas refresh every five hours, ensuring that subscribers can continue projects without interruption. Free users, however, receive a new weekly rate limit, which reduces the frequency of quota resets but still restricts heavy usage.

Google clarified that all users, regardless of subscription status, retain access to Gemini 3 Pro, which includes:

  • Unlimited tab code completions
  • Full access to Agent Manager
  • Browser integration capabilities

Why Rate Limits Matter

Rate limits have been a pain point since Antigravity’s public preview launch. Even paying users could hit their quotas after just a few prompts. This occurs because the AI generates hidden “Thinking Tokens” during internal processing. These tokens count against the user’s overall quota, sometimes causing unexpected cutoffs.

The updated limits aim to reduce these interruptions. However, free users must still be cautious: high-complexity tasks can rapidly consume their weekly allowance.

Managing Usage Wisely

For free users, using the low “thinking” mode for simple tasks can prevent quota overuse. High thinking levels, intended for complex reasoning, consume tokens quickly and may halt the AI before task completion. For heavy users, subscribing to a paid plan may be the most practical solution.

Conclusion

Google’s adjustment of Antigravity quotas highlights the balance between providing robust AI capabilities and managing resource costs. Paid users gain priority access, while free users must plan tasks carefully to avoid running out of allowance. As the platform continues to evolve, these limits may change, but for now, subscription status determines how much uninterrupted usage a developer can expect.
